Blood Roots Podcast Completes Successful Fundraising Campaign

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of our initial fundraising campaign for the Blood Roots podcast project. Thanks to the generous support of institutional and individual donors, we have secured the necessary funding to bring these important American folk music stories to life.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our major institutional supporters:

The Berea College Appalachian Fund - Their commitment to preserving and celebrating Appalachian culture and heritage aligns perfectly with our mission to document and share these traditional ballads.

Kentucky Humanities - Their support reflects the significant role these ballads play in Kentucky's cultural landscape and their importance to our shared cultural heritage.

The Gilliam Family Fund - Their generous contribution demonstrates their dedication to supporting projects that preserve and promote traditional arts and culture.

We are equally grateful to our individual donors whose contributions, both large and small, have helped make this project possible. Your belief in the importance of preserving and sharing these musical traditions means the world to us.

This funding will enable us to:

  • Conduct thorough historical research on each featured ballad

  • Commission talented playwrights to create original radio plays based on the ballads

  • Hire professional actors to bring these stories to life

  • Present a live performance at the Appalachian Center for the Arts in Pikeville, Kentucky

The success of this fundraising campaign represents more than just financial support—it demonstrates the strong community interest in preserving and sharing these important pieces of American musical heritage. Every contribution helps ensure these stories and songs will be documented and shared with future generations.

Production is now underway, and we look forward to sharing our first episode with you soon. Follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter for regular updates on our progress.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project. Together, we're helping to ensure these vital pieces of American musical history continue to be heard and appreciated.
